The Mongol Rally
In an extremely old Opel Corsa

We are Jeroen & Max, two friends who’ve known each other for over 22 years. And we love epic and challenging adventures! That’s why, this summer, we’re hopping into our 1998 Opel Corsa – a gloriously charming tin can on wheels – to take on the Mongol Rally!

But what exactly is that???

It’s a rally with 198 teams! No fixed route, no cozy support from the organizers, and absolutely no guarantee that we’ll make it to the finish line in this car. What we do get: endless steppes, broken shock absorbers, and enough stamps in our passport to apply for a brand-new one afterward.

Take action & donate!

We’re taking action for both Cool Earth and KWF!

Our campain page can be found here!

Imagine this: you’re driving a rickety little car with an engine the size of a lawnmower, more racing stripes on the sides than horsepower under the hood, straight through mountains, deserts, and endless steppes. Oh, and don’t forget the short stretch from Prague to Kazakhstan!

That’s the Mongol Rally in a nutshell, and… we’re joining in on the madness!

But this insane journey isn’t just about chasing adventure. It’s also a chance to do some good for the world. That’s why we’re using this epic trip to raise money for two important charities: Cool Earth and KWF Dutch Cancer Society.

  • Cool Earth partners with indigenous communities to protect rainforests and stop deforestation. Check them out at coolearth.org.
  • KWF Dutch Cancer Society focuses on cancer prevention, early detection, and the best possible treatments. With our participation in the Mongol Rally, we aim to not only push boundaries but also make a positive impact on both the environment and global health. More info at kwf.nl.

Support Cool Earth and KWF by donating on our campaign page! (Link coming soon!)

Every donation on our page will go directly to these awesome causes! 🌍🚗

The Car

We’ll be driving these thousands of kilometers in our beautiful 1998 Opel Corsa B. Decked out in red suede, featuring a decorative air intake, no backseat for years, and more party lights than a Christmas tree!

Since we’re both around 2 meters tall, the Opel also comes with a sunroof – so we can actually sit upright!

A magnificent car, room for two, and a roof rack for the rest!

Our Route
More or less...

Part 1 – Our Route

Our adventure kicks off, of course, in beautiful Holland. From there, we head to our first pit stop in Pilsen, Czech Republic. After a refreshing break, we’ll make our way to the official starting line near Prague.

And then it’s go time! On July 12, 2025, we’ll hit the road from Prague to Budapest, then on to Belgrade, and down to Bucharest. We’ll make a quick stop in Mangalia before heading to our first major pit stop: the stunning city of Istanbul.

After soaking in the magic of Istanbul, we’ll drive through Turkey, passing (roughly, give or take) through Iskilip, Giresun, and Artvin, before crossing the border into Georgia and arriving in Tbilisi.

In Tbilisi, we’ll put our trusty Opel on transport to Baku, since the borders of Azerbaijan are still closed. From Baku, we’ll hop on the ferry to Aqtau, Kazakhstan – marking the end of the first leg of our journey!

Part 2 – The Next Leg

From Aqtau, we’ll possibly head south to Ashgabat, and we’re hoping to squeeze in a quick stop at the Door to Hell (look it up, it’s absolutely breathtaking!). Then, we’ll tackle the famous Pamir Highway, crossing through Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and eventually heading north back into Kazakhstan. Somewhere along the way, we’re planning to hit Almaty (a little detour never hurt anyone!), and then it’s just a short hop to the finish line!

6 weeks on the road… Easy, right?
